Physician Burnout

40% of Physicians Experience Burn Out. Will That be You?

10 YEARS INTO THEIR PRACTICE 20% OF INTERNISTS ARE NOT WORKING IN THEIR FIELD. GENERAL ENDOCRINOLOGY IS INTERNAL MEDICINE FOR DIABETICS, WITH SOME THYROID AND OTHER ENDOCRINE DISEASES.

40% of all physicians experience burnout. The lucky ones are doing medical jobs they love, or ones that have less stress. I am one of the lucky ones. I was able to start a practice in 1974 that was thyroid based, and did not include diabetes. There was no night call, weekends, or physician coverage. The thyroid patients were mostly women and were basically not severely ill requiring hospitalization. I worked 9-5 in my thyroid clinic. I am 67 and still get excited going to work. A clinical thyroidologist is busy doing all the testing on the patients in his office. Consultation, CLIA thyoid lab, diagnostic and interventional ultrasound, nuclear thyroidology, and thyroid cytology are all in one place. The cross training needed to be an expert clinical thyroidologist is available to any endocrinologist or fellow. Endocrine University and AACE have workshops to prepare you for the Endocrine Certification Neck Ultrasound ENCU, a key component needed for private clinical thyroidologists. AACE has a nuclear medicine training course as well. AACE has Cytology for Endocrinologists workshops to help you quality control the pathology reports on your patients. When you have all the parts, you too can open a private thyroid center.

I can help you with my 3 day classes to learn how to start a thyroid center. I can train you in all aspects of modern clinical thyroidology.

  1. Teach you proper smearing technique.
  2. On-Site Rapid Dif Quik quality assessment for cytology adequacy.
  3. Use my "Ace Needle Me," a torso with THYROID nodules, for needle placement practice for nodules, cysts and cancer nodes.
  4. Use my Blue Phantom for PEI practice for thyroid and parathyroid cysts and cancer nodes.
  5. Nuclear thyroid medicine, including uptakes, imaging and therapy for hyperthyroid, nontoxic goiters, and cancer. After the AACE course I can give you practice in uptakes and therapy toward your practical experience for your license.
  6. Core thyroid lab and how to get CLIA certification.
  7. "First Look" method to take control of the thyroid cytology. Teach you microscope skills and basic thyroid cytology for endocrinologists.
  8. All thyroid codes and complete super bill. All the new codes you will be able to bill for thyroid services will be included.
  9. All the equipment, supplies, protocols, machines, and anything else needed to start practicing thyroid. Check out theclinic videos at www.thyroid.com. Call me at 310-503-8878 or email me at dr.guttler@thyroid.com for details.
